In Microsoft Teams, we believe that communication should be inclusive, seamless, and empowering for everyone. As part of that commitment, we are excited to announce the availability of a new feature called Sign language mode - a step forward for us in bridging communication and collaboration gaps and creating more inclusive meeting experiences for sign language users. Developed in collaboration with our internal Deaf and hard-of-hearing (D/HH) community, Sign language mode is designed to support the unique needs of signers and their interpreters in Teams meetings. It introduces role-aware capabilities that enhance the discoverability of signers and improve video quality for those using sign language. Sign language mode also uses a new, state-of-the-art sign language detection model to ensure that D/HH participants have the same presence as their hearing counterparts while they are signing.

What’s New in Sign Language Mode

Self-identification - D/HH signers and interpreters can now identify their roles in meeting settings. This allows Teams to make appropriate decisions that better support sign language–related scenarios.
Improved video quality - Participants who identify as sign language users will automatically receive enhanced video fidelity, ensuring that their signing is clearer and easier to follow throughout the meeting.
Interpreter visibility - Interpreters are now easier to locate on the meeting stage and in the participant roster, helping D/HH participants discover and stay visually connected with their interpreters.
Automatic sign language detection - Our new sign language detection model recognizes when someone is actively signing and automatically elevates them to active speaker status, complete with a border around their video tile, just as it would for someone speaking through audio. This ensures that the D/HH signer can be seen by everyone while they are actively participating in the meeting.

Jenny Andersson - Integration Architect at Tietoevry Tech Services

What's your role and title? What are your responsibilities?

I’m an Integration Architect at Tietoevry Tech Services, where I work with large enterprise customers to develop integration solutions. For the past two years my main focus has been on cloud and hybrid integrations. I design integration architectures, advise on best practices including security and the chosen architecture, and collaborate closely with development teams to implement and maintain these solutions.

Can you give us some insights into your day-to-day activities and what a typical day in your role looks like?

My days usually start with scrum meetings across ongoing projects, which help me stay updated on progress, align with teams and prioritize my tasks for the day. After that, I often have customer meetings where I advise on integration strategies, provide architectural guidance or work on pre-sales engagements to scope out potential solutions. Recently, a big focus has been on BizTalk migrations, helping customers modernize their integration platforms by moving to Azure-based solutions. I try to dedicate my afternoons to hands-on technical work, which I really enjoy. Lately, that’s involved working with the new hybrid capabilities in Logic Apps. It’s a great mix of strategic consulting and deep technical implementation, which keeps the role dynamic and rewarding.

What motivates and inspires you to be an active member of the Aviators/Microsoft community?

I’ve always received a lot of support from the community especially when I was starting out in my career and I still benefit from it today. That generosity and openness made a big impact on me, so I feel it’s important to give back whenever I can. For me it’s a way to pay it forward and stay connected to a network that has helped me grow both technically and professionally.

Looking back, what advice do you wish you had been given earlier that you'd now share with those looking to get into STEM/technology?

Don’t overthink it, just start doing! In the beginning of my career, I assumed that everyone else knew everything, and that I couldn’t contribute or be part of certain areas because I didn’t know enough. But the truth is, no one knows everything, and that’s completely okay. The best way to learn is by doing and taking on challenges, making mistakes and growing from experience. I believe confidence comes from action, not from waiting until you feel “ready.”

What has helped you grow professionally?

One thing that has really helped me grow is surrounding myself with people who have different experiences or areas of expertise, whether at work, in communities, or through networking. I’ve learned a lot simply by asking questions, even the ones that might seem obvious. I also try to say yes to new opportunities, especially when they push me outside my comfort zone. Being an overthinker, I’ve developed a personal mantra: “Think 40%, do 60%.” It reminds me not to get stuck in planning or doubt, but to take action and learn along the way. That mindset has really helped me move forward.

If you had a magic wand that could create a feature in Logic Apps, what would it be and why?

If I could use a bit of magic in Logic Apps, I’d want AI to automagically handle all the data mappings. It’s honestly my least favorite part of integration work. It takes forever, it’s a bit dull and yet it’s always important. So, if AI could just step in and quietly take care of it, I wouldn’t complain. I’ve also heard a few customers ask for a disconnected control plane that can be hosted on-premises. That would be a big win for scenarios where cloud access is limited or compliance rules are extra strict.

Earlier today, I noticed something odd... there were three instances of Word installed on my PC.... :grincry:.

Labeled in the following order top to bottom.

W2A. Word webapp instance 1
W2B. Word webapp instance 2

Puzzled I did some digging and found that they were actually web apps using Edge as a proxy.

Now, I don't have any issue with the web app functionality or if it was pre-installed with o/s for new devices. What I do take issue with - is the way these web apps were installed without permission or consent.

What makes it even worse is that you cannot uninstall W2A as it's attached to W2B and this behaviour will throw people who are not tech savy.

Hooking it to a computer only allows access to folders for photos, videos, music, documents; not a true file structure menu or file search.

Long story short:
Every installation of Windows i do is swapping stereo channels L/R to R/L ONLY when running 3D applications.
This is DEFINATELY a software/windows issue because windows sound test in sound panel or youtube stereo channel test is correct (channels arent swapped).
Once i run 3D app (type of app doesnt matter, happens on every app) OS is instantly swapping audio channels.

Main facts below to prevent non-focused answers:

1. Happens on every type of hardware, different motherboards, different CPU's/GPU's.
2. Happens on every type of headset
3. Happens on ONBOARD audio and PCIe card
4. Happens on every version of drivers for onboard audio/PCIe card
5. Happens on every windows version starting from 7 to 11

Please do not post answers like:
1. run troubleshoot
2. do a sfc scannow or chkdsk
3. reinstall windows
4. install different drivers
5. try different headset
6. try to mess with sound options in control panel - none of this tweaking eg. exclusive mode/windows spatial sound etc. is solving the problem

I just turned on my laptop and I was quite surprised to see that all of the folders and files on my desktop disappeared. Initially, I saw them in the file explorer, and my C drive had about 200GB of free space. As I was downloading updates on Windows 11, busy on the phone and whatnot, now more free space appears on the C:. I don't know what happened during that time. A virus scan doesn't turn up anything. What do I do now? Is there any way to do a restore and see if those files turn up? This is on an SSD and IIRC, there is a way to recover the files? Unfortunately, I didn't back up those files to an HDD so it's important to find a way to somehow recover them.

I don't know if this is related to Onedrive. I noticed that after this latest Windows update, OneDrive seems to have been turned back on and synced my files to OneDrive. I know files were backed up because there is a desktop folder with subfolders that range from 1-19. Unfortunately, some folders are empty. It makes me wonder if OneDrive was automatically deciding what to backup? Like if an existing folder with the same name exists on OneDrive, would it only back up the folder from my laptop and then delete the files if it seems to exist on OneDrive? I tried to do a restore via OneDrive to a previous date, but all my lost files don't exist using a previous recovery date.

So I got a bunch of sensitive documents; some work stuff, a few personal files that I want keep private. I'm using Windows 10 (though I will buy a new laptop with Windows 11 too), and 1 am surprised there is no straightforward option built into Windows to just put a password to a file folder.

What’s the best way to add a password to a file on Windows 11/10? I'm not looking to encrypt my entire drive or anything that extreme; just something lightweight that asks for a password when someone tries to open the file or folder.

I just installed Windows 10 and see a huge drop off in the boot time and shut down times. I have an i7 laptop with the OS partitioned on a SSD drive. Windows 8.1 would take 10-15 seconds to boot up.

This isnt the case here, right after the logo displays, I get a blank screen for a good minute. The laptop is fine after booting up, no lagging or heating issues so far.

I really don't want to clean install, just because the AMD drivers for my gfx card are a pain in the rear to properly install. Also reading people having this issue even after a clean install.

Anyone else having the same issue?
